The Benefits of Bone Broth
As some of you may have seen from some of my Instagram or Facebook posts, I LOVE giving Ziggy bone broth! He likes it best when I freeze it and throw it in with his kibble, but it can also be poured right into their bowl. So I thought I would share with you guys why I give Ziggy bone broth and why it's a great supplement to feed your dog:
It's great for their joints! Bone broth is chock full of glycosaminoglycans which are crucial to joint health and collagen production in the joints, ligaments, and tendons. Some bone broths will also have collagen added to them!
It helps to detox the liver! Think about all the stuff going into our dog's bodies and through their liver - vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, synthetic materials in their food, antibiotics, grass that's treated with chemicals.... the list goes on. All that nasty stuff puts a lot of stress on the liver which can't do it's job well without glycine. But lucky for your dog, glycine is found in bone broth!
It keeps them looking their best! Bone broth can help give them a shinier coat and stronger nails from Vitamins B, C, and D and collagen.
It's an energy and vitality super-booster! Say goodbye to the days of fatigue and poor endurance! Arginine improves cardiac output so your dog won't be as short of breath and will have a higher tolerance for exercise and playtime. Amino acids in bone broth also reduce fatigue and increase endurance. And lastly, Vitamin B is essential for proper brain and organ function. Thank you, bone broth!
Healthy gut = happy pup! Proline is also found in bone broth and it helps which nutrient absorption. Glutamine in bone broth keeps their immune system strong and phosphorus keeps their teeth healthy (and teeth are obviously pretty important when it comes to chewing and eating). Since it's such a great immune system booster, it can also help alleviate the symptoms of food allergies and seasonal allergies if your pup suffers from either of those. So dig in, dogs!
I use Primalvore bone broth because it contains added collagen and tumeric along with the yummy broth. If you want to try it yourself, click here to purchase and you can use code 'dog-mom' at check out to save 15%! I guarantee you and your dog will be hooked.
NOTE: Be sure to stay away from bone broth from the supermarket! The broth that us humans consume usually has added flavors and salt which are both very bad for dogs. Stick to the brands that are make specifically for canines :)
